Few TV shows currently on the airwaves attract the feverish excitement and support of Game of Thrones. Upon wrapping up its sixth season, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss had positioned the chess pieces in such a way that the power players of Westeros were on a collision course with one another.

Chatting with Variety at this weekend’s Emmys award ceremony, Sophie Turner reflected on the memories made on Game of Thrones, before stating, “it’s quite sad. It really feels like things are wrapping up and coming to an end. People are hanging around Belfast a bit longer to be around each other and be in each other’s presence.”

What really sent the rumor mill into overdrive was the moment when Sophie Turner teased that not all characters will live to sent Game of Thrones season 8. A forgone conclusion, perhaps, but it’s an interesting tidbit nonetheless.
