Cardiff City Appoints Neil Warnock As Manager

Neil Warnock has been appointed the new manager of Cardiff City, negotiations were concluded on Tuesday evening and the club will confirm the deal on Wednesday morning. Warnock, who has achieved seven promotions to date takes over from Paul Trollope, who was sacked by owner Vincent Tan on Tuesday morning after just five months in the job.

The former Rotherham manager will be joined by his backroom staff of Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson.   Warnock left Rotherham at the end of last season having joined them in February and guiding them to Championship safety, nine points clear of the drop.   Since May, he has been linked with a host of jobs including vacancies at Blackburn, Derby and most recently Aston Villa.

Warnock will be introduced to the media on Thursday. His first game in charge will be on October 14, against rivals Bristol City. Cardiff sit second bottom in the Championship with eight points having won just two of their opening 11 league games.
