For the uninitiated, Alderman’s book centers on Ronit, the estranged daughter of a rabbi who returns home from New York City to the Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood she grew up in London to attend her father’s funeral. It proves to be a testing trip across the pond, however, after her arrival causes upheaval among the relatively quiet community. Little is known about how Weisz and McAdams will fit into that provocative story. As for the confirmed tidbits, though, Room producer Ed Guiney and Frida Torresblanco are also attached to oversee the development of Disobedience.
It’s unclear as yet when Disobedience will hit theaters, but we understand London will play host to the film’s production during the upcoming winter months.
