Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stated that he his adapting to life in the
English Premier League ahead of Saturday's clash against Everton. The Spaniard joined the
Citizens from German club Bayern Munich
and has guided them to the top of the table in his first few months in charge.
Despite the
rigours of managing in the English top flight the Catalan insisted he will not
change his footbaling ideals even though he admitted it was tough adapting to
the Premier League, as he did in Spain and Germany.
He said “At every stage, every club, every country
has its own specific things and you have to adapt and adjust, I played in different
styles against difficult problems the opponents created in the last seven years
and that's beautiful. The way I want the players to win the game is the way I
believe. At Barcelona we were a very good team but during the season may be we crossed
the ball ten times. We attacked a lot in the middle for the quality we had at
that moment. At Munich, it was completely different, we had big strikers and
amazing wingers. The way you play depends on the players. But the fundamentals
are the same.”
The game
will afford Guardiola the opportunity to square up against Everton boss Ronald Koeman the man he played with as
part Barcelona's Dream Team in the 90's.
