General
Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Dr.
Sanusi Mohammed has said Super Falcons are geared towards retaining the
African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) they won two years ago in Namibia.
Speaking on
the chances of the Nigerian senior women soccer team, the Super Falcons at the 10th
edition of AWCON billed for Cameroon next month, Dr Sanusi said that the NFF
was giving the team all they needed to conquer Africa again
He said “I am confident that the Super Falcons will
go to Cameroon next month to retain the cup they won, for the 7th time in 2014
in Namibia because we have what it takes to beat other teams. The only thing in
the minds of the girls now is how to win the trophy for the eight time. As you
can see, the Falcons are already in camp preparing for AWCON in Cameroon and we
are giving them the maximum support needed to do well and retain the trophy. We
are planning quality friendly matches for the team before they depart for the championship.
I cannot be specific about the teams to play against but it could be in Nigeria
or abroad”
The
federation scribe also assured that Falconets who are billed to depart for
Papua New Guinea this weekend will not disappoint as they have trained to a
point of pain and are ready to do the nation proud by going far in the FIFA
Women Under-20 World Cup.
