Algeria
defender Aissa Mandi has expressed
optimism that they have what it takes to defeat the Super Eagles
in Saturday's FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo. The Algerians
trail the Eagles by two points in their qualifying group after they drew 1-1 at
home against Cameroon on matchday 1.
He said “We will challenge to win and we are
confident of our capabilities and our goal is to return with a positive result,
we are professional players and we have expertise and experience that will help
us to make a difference especially since our opponents (Nigeria) play beautiful
football and this means that the level will be good and we will try and use our
opportunities.”
Mandi who
represented Algeria at the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup stated that they will try
to avoid previous mistakes while hoping to give new coach Georges Leekens the best start as Algeria coach.
