#BREAKING: Donald Trump elected 45th President of the US

American businessman, Donald Trump, has been elected the 45th president of the United States on the platform of the Republican Party.

Mr. Trump won 288 electoral votes, 73 more than her Democratic Party’s challenger, Hillary Clinton, who garnered 215 electoral votes.

Mr. Trump, a real estate mogul, seized a wave of wide support from evangelicals and working class Americans to defeat his major challenger and Democratic Party candidate, Hilary Clinton.

His victory is seen by analysts as a major surprise, having gone undetected by several major polls conducted in the country in the last days running to the election.

Hillary Clinton had also telephoned Trump conceding defeat and congratulating him for winning the election, the CNN is reporting.

“She has called him to say she believed he (Trump) will emerge president,” a CNN anchor said a while ago.
