Don’t Overhype Victor Anichebe, Says Sunderland Boss David Moyes

Sunderland manager David Moyes insists the performances of Victor Anichebe should not be overhyped.  Anichebe has scored three times in Sunderland's last two Premier League matches, which have resulted in victories over Bournemouth and Hull City, to lift Moyes' side off the foot of the table.

The 28years old has forged a blossoming partnership with Jermain Defoe, who has scored seven of Sunderland's 12 league goals this season. However, Moyes has advised caution over a player he has experience of dealing with from his days with Everton.

He said “We've just got to be careful - we've won two games with Victor coming into the team and we also played well at Southampton and should still be in the cup, but let's put it into context - he's not a £20million centre-forward. We've got a centre-forward who I believe in and I know what he is capable of but there will be games when he is on top form and games when he is not. We've been really pleased with him and Jermain - what Jermain has done whether it be this season or in seasons gone by speaks for itself with his goals

Anichebe arrived at Sunderland on a free transfer following his release from West Brom, signing a one-year deal at the Stadium of Light.  Sunderland next face a tough trip to face Jurgen Klopp's high-flying Liverpool at Anfield.
