Goon 2 to debut next year March

Sean William Scott and director Jay Baruchel are gearing up to hit the ice once more for Goon 2 only this time, we finally have a tangible release window for the long-rumored sequel. Officially titled Goon: Last of the Enforcers, Baruchel took to Twitter yesterday evening to announce that Last of the Enforcers will skate into theaters in Canada on March 17, 2017, but stopped short of revealing when fans can expect the follow-up to expand into other territories.

The announcement was accompanied by a new photo for Goon 2, one in which we see retired enforcer Ross Rhea handing out some much-needed tips to Doug Glatt. Picking up a few years after the events of the cult original, Doug has now carved out a normal life outside the ring with Eva, but when the Halifax Highlanders come calling, he returns from semi-retirement for another spell on the ice.

Also on board are Marc-Andre Grondin, Kim Coates and Alison Pill. Wyatt Russell will play the part of Anders Cain, described as a young, volatile hot shot who becomes Captain of the Halifax Highlanders when a pro lockout suddenly sends a slew of new players down to the minors. Finally, Elisha Cuthbert plays Mary, the sister of Eva.

Goon: Last of the Enforcers will herald the return of Doug Glatt in all of his dim-witted glory when Jay Baruchel’s cult sequel debuts on March 17, 2017.
