Mauricio Pochettino admitted in the run-up to Sunday's derby that their springtime slump still rankles, but the Argentine also warned Spurs will struggle to keep pace financially with the Gunners while their new home is under construction. The capacity for the new stadium has pointedly been set at 61,000 - 568 higher than the Emirates - but Wenger says the increase in matchday revenue from 2018 will not necessarily mean a role reversal in north London.
He said “No position is guaranteed, it's about doing our job, but at the end of the day everything is decided by what happens on the pitch. That is what the size of a club is about, consistency at the top level. Look, I don't think about Tottenham like that. I think about Arsenal and making us as big as possible, making us stronger. We have a strong fanbase, maybe the strongest in London and as long as we do our job Arsenal will always be the stronger.”
