Perennial
rivals Nigeria and Ghana played out a 1-1 draw in their Group B fixture at the
Africa Women's Nations Cup in Cameroon on Wednesday. Arsenal striker Asisat
Oshoala scored her fifth goal of the competition to put Nigeria ahead in
the 19th minute, while Elizabeth Addo
levelled scores for the Black Queens two minutes before the break.
With the
draw, the Falcons remain on top of the group on four points, the same as Ghana,
but with a superior goals difference. The defending champions who started the
competition on a superb note with a win against Mali on
Sunday failed to assert their authority in the opening minutes of the game
as Ghana dominated possession.
The Falcons
however took the lead in the 19th minute when the Ghanaian defence failed
to deal with Osarenoma Igbinovia's
dangerous freekick into the box with the ball hitting Oshoala before sailing
into the net.
