Tunisia beat
Libya 1-0 at the Stade Omar Hamadi, Algiers on Friday in their Russia 2018 qualifying
fixture to boost their hopes of grabbing the sole Group A ticket for the finals.
The match was moved to a neutral venue due to an on-going political turmoil in
Libya. The hosts were looking to bounce back from the opening day 4-0
loss to Democratic Republic of Congo but were condemned to another defeat which
has now put their qualification hopes in doubt.
Wahbi Kharzi scored the winning the goal from
the spot in the 50th minute. The win put the Carthage Eagles who are looking to
make their fifth appearance at the World Cup in firm control of the group
following their 2-0 win against Guinea on matchday-one.
Tunisia now
sit at the top of the group with six points, three more than the Congolese who
face Guinea in Conakry on Saturday
