Super
Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has
called on the Nigerian Football Federation to focus more on developing women's
football in Nigeria to achieve bigger goals. The Arsenal Ladies forward who was named in the CAF's women team of the
season also revealed that the Super Falcons' protest over their unpaid
allowances and bonuses in Abuja was to see the game grow well in Nigeria.
She said “The female league is not helping matters at
all, not the Falcons. We need a proper developmental plan to see women's
football grow. In my opinion we are not getting it, we have the League
Management Committee supporting the men's league which is very good and we
need something like that for the women's league in Nigeria. We need a proper structure
to help women's football grow.”
While
appreciating the efforts of the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, the Arsenal Ladies forward expressed her optimism
that the team's performance will be better at the next Women's Africa Cup
of Nations in Ghana.
