It’s going on 12 months since Hans Zimmer formally announced his retirement from the superhero genre but
it seems the German composer has left the door open for a possible return.
Chatting to The
West Australian, Zimmer touched base on his time
spent in the genre of costumed heroes, which also spans Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and The Dark Knight trilogy,
before noting that he’d consider another superhero gig providing “somebody comes along with a great idea.”
He said “It’s true, until
somebody comes along with a great idea. “How many people have to go write two
Batman themes in their lifetime? I needed a break from it. And I needed to
categorically say ‘I need a break’.”
Beyond the superhero genre, Zimmer’s other
credits include The Lion King, Inception, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and the
second season of the BBC’s Planet Earth series.
