Leicester City striker
Leonardo Ulloa is considering
handing in a transfer request, as he becomes increasingly frustrated with a
lack of first-team opportunities this season. The Argentine's only Premier
League start came against Middlesbrough on
January 2.
Ulloa has 18 months left on his current
contract but he's yet to be offered a new deal by Leicester. Sources close to
the player indicate he is still very fond of Leicester but he is keen to sort
out his future because he is aware his next contract could be his last before
he retires. Unlike some other members of Leicester's title-winning squad, Ulloa
wasn't offered improved terms in the summer, though he did receive the same
bonuses as his team-mates.
Claudio
Ranieri has said publicly he wants to keep the striker. Leicester turned down a
£9m bid for Ulloa in the summer, and sources indicate the club also rejected an
approach from an unnamed Spanish club last week. It is believed a number of
Spanish clubs are monitoring Ulloa's situation, and further offers are expected
before the January window closes.
