This Is Why We Won’t See Kingpin In The MCU Any Time Soon

 

Ever since Marvel announced that they’d be producing a series of Netflix TV shows that would be set in the same universe as their big screen adventures, fans have wondered when we’d see some kind of crossover. Many assumed that Avengers: Infinity War would be the movie that’d unite Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with the street-level vigilantes seen on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, but alas, that wasn’t to be – and it’s actually looking more and more unlikely that it’s going to happen in the foreseeable future.

Actor Vincent D’Onofrio recently confirmed that we’d be seeing the terrifying villain again on Netflix, but he also put the dampeners on the rumour that Kingpin will show up in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now, he’s cast some doubt on any of the small-screen characters potentially getting called up to the big leagues. During an interview with Digital Spy, D’Onofrio explained why it’ll probably be a very long time before Marvel adds Kingpin and company to their movie roster.

He said “The movies, but I think it’s pretty much been said it’s not going to happen. Or at least not for a very, very long time. I think [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin Feige explained that, and that’s what makes the most sense, he said the film universe is too jam-packed. It’s hard enough already, and if they keep bringing big characters in that they have to service in the writing, it’s not gonna work. They’re trying to figure out already how to individualise more and at the same time keep The Avengers going. It makes sense not to mix the TV stuff, there’s just too many characters.”
