Now, we’re hearing of yet another Cloverfield movie. Julius Avery has signed on for a project named Overlord, which is being produced by Abrams. It’s said to be a WWII thriller that follows a mission to sabotage a German tower during D-Day, one which will also find the protagonists fighting “supernatural forces that are a result of a secret Nazi experiment.”
While not confirmed just yet, Overlord certainly sounds like it could tie into the Cloverfield universe, given its bizarre and mysterious sounding plot and Abrams’ involvement. Not to mention that Avery is an up and coming director much like Dan Trachtenberg, who helmed 10 Cloverfield Lane and Julius Onah, who’s in charge of God Particle.
It’s all just speculation for now, to be sure, but you can’t deny the possibility that it sounds like there’s a lot more to Overlord than meets the eye. We’re not saying that it’s going to be a direct sequel to what’s come before, but we wouldn’t be at all surprised if there’s some kind of connection between this film and the three other instalments in the franchise.
