Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike's marriage crashes, ex-wife refunds N300 bride price

Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike's 12 years old marriage to and his ex-wife, Suzanne Emma is now over. Their marriage was dissolved at the Lagos Island Customary Court, Lagos, Nigeria today, March 2, 2017 following Suzanne’s 2015 petition filed before the court accusing Emeka of incessant beating, molestation, and torture.

‘From all evidence before the court, the marriage between the couple had broken down, and it is irreconcilable, consequently, the marriage is hereby dissolved,’ said the court presided by three judges; Awo Awosola, Opeyemi Olanrewaju and Kehinde Jacob Olayinka.
However, the court granted the actor full custody of the estranged couple’s four children, though ordered that Suzanne be granted ‘unhindered’ access to them.
Emeka denied all the accusations filed by his ex-wife and urged the court not to dissolve the marriage.
He instead revealed to the court Suzanne had moved out of their matrimonial home five times without any reason and their marriage crisis started when she paid for the children’s school fees at an undisclosed period. The court also revealed it received copy of a bank draft of N300 dated July 20, 2016, which the Suzanne used in refunding the bride price, paid to her family during their marriage.
‘Any party that is not satisfied with the judgment has the right to appeal to any court of higher jurisdiction within 30 days from today,’ the court added.
