Southampton goalkeeper
Stuart Taylor has signed a new
one-year deal, the club have announced. The 36-year-old arrived at St Mary's
last season to provide added depth to the goalkeeping department and has agreed
to extend his stay through the 2017/18 campaign.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City
stopper, who is yet to feature for the Saints, will head into his 21st season
as a professional hoping to make his first Premier League appearance since 2007.
Following a number of elaborate transfer
unveilings from some high-profile clubs, Southampton took a different approach
to the summer craze by using a sarcastic video to break the news.
Taylor told Southampton's
official website “I'm obviously delighted
to have signed for another year. It's a great bunch of lads and a great group,
and I'm looking forward to working again with a great goalkeeper coach and a
great squad of goalkeepers.”
