Sunderland will hold a
minute's applause in memory of Bradley
Lowery before Friday's opening Sky Bet Championship game against Derby. Earlier this month thousands
gathered in the city to mourn the young Sunderland fan at his funeral after he
passed away following a brave battle with neuroblastoma.
The six-year-old, who captured
the hearts of football players and fans across the world, will now be
remembered with a pre-match tribute as players, match officials and fans will
be asked to join together in applause ahead of kick-off.
Sunderland chief executive Martin Bain said “Bradley had
the most amazing impact on our club and the wider football community. It is
fitting that we can come together at our first league game of the new season to
pay tribute to this wonderful little boy, whose love for Sunderland was evident
for all to see.”
