Bournemouth are awaiting confirmation on the severity of Jermain Defoe's ankle injury suffered in the Carabao Cup against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Defoe was forced to come off 16 minutes into Bournemouth's 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge, having received treatment two minutes into the match after being brought down by Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu.
Manager Eddie Howe revealed after the game that the club are waiting for further news on the injury. Howe said: "It looks like an ankle twist I'm not sure, it looks like it could be ligaments but it's too early to tell on that."
