First off, let’s say Happy New Year to all our esteem readers, we know it’s long overdue but we have been working on how to make Absolute Hearts Music Review, the number music review on the continent more juicy and trust us we have something coming up.
No doubts 2018 kicked off in the best possible way, we are just in the first week of the third month of the year and we already have songs competing for Song of the Year. Without any further ado let’s give you what we have for this week;

1.      DJ Spinall ft. Wizkid - Nowo: Once again one of the finest DJs in the land, DJ Spinall recruits the service Starboy Wizkid, one of his go to collaborator and they gave us a Killertunes produced track called Nowo. As expected Killertunes gives us a super production and Wizkid made sure he turned it into another anthem. The rating will be 8/10.

2.      Danny Young - Big Alhaji: After taking a long break from the music scene, Danny Young returns with the song titled Big Alhaji. On this track he modified the popular South African sound used by Patoranking and he didn’t do badly for a comeback song, the rating will be 7/10.

3.      Destiny Boy - Ligali: It is no longer news that we are a big admirer of this young boy doing big things, Destiny Boy is his name and after giving the Fuji version of some top songs last year, he kicks off the year with his own song titled Ligali. Produced by 2Tboys, Destiny Boy came though on this one as the rating will be 8/10.

4.      Zingah ft. A Reece - For The Level: South African rapper Zingah is back with another dope hip hop track titled For The Level and he features one of the hottest South African rapper A-Reece and together they gave us a 8/10 rating song.

5.      Sound Sultan - Show Me Road: Veteran singer Sound Sultan returns with another classic song titled Show Me Road and as expected the Naija Ninja man kept it simple, groovy and meaningful. The Wole Oni produced track will have 8/10 rating.

6.      Skuki - Owello: Just when we thought we were done sampling the famous South Africa sound Qgo, Skuki decides it is their turn do something with the sound. The song titled Owello as produced by DJ Mo and the rating will be 7/10.

7.      DJ Real ft. Ice Prince x CDQ – Fly: DJ Real returns with another banger and on this one he features Ice Prince and CDQ and they call this Fly. To be honest I think Ice Prince did well on the hook and his verse wasn’t bad at all as CDQ also came through, the rating will be 8/10.

8.      DJ Kaywise ft. KLY x Ice Prince x Emmy Gee - Normal Level: Another Nigerian DJ, DJ Kaywise returns with another song titled Normal Level and on this one he features South African singer KLY and Nigerian rappers Ice Prince and  Emmy Gee, once again Ice came through on this. The rating for this will be 9/10 as the production itself was on point.

9.      Ceeboi - Owo kini Yen: As produced by Krisbeat, one of the fast raising Nigerian rapper Ceeboi makes his 2018 debut with a jam of life called Owo Kini Yen. Krisbeat made sure the production was totally lit and Ceeboi made sure that his effort didn’t go to waste. My people we might just have another street slang on hand, “owo kini yen”. The rating will be 9/10.

10.  Blaqbonez - Bad Boy: Blaqbonez is one of the best new school rappers but somehow he has remained underrated and not many have come to accept him but it has to be said this dude is pure talent with amazing flows and versatility. His latest effort is titled Bad Boy and a usual Blaqbonez came all out delivering a dope hip hop track.  The rating will be 9/10.

11.  Cassper Nyovest ft. Davido – Check On You: South Africa rapper Cassper Nyovest teams up with Nigeria hottest singer Davido and together they gave us a song titled Check On You. To be honest after all the hype about how they have made a fire, I will say I am disappointed, not that the song is bad, I mean the production is cool and it seems like they were having fun and wanted to do something cool but in terms of fire or being a hit, this song is far from it. The rating of the song will be 6/10, though with enough airplay, the song might eventually go far.

12.  DJ Xclusive ft. Slimcase x Mizz Kiss - Shempe: With song like this I guess we can say that DJ Xclusive just has a fine face but very much connected to the street. The superstar DJ serves us with his own Shaku Shaku song and he enlist the service of rave of the moment Slimcase and the lovely Mizz Kiss and together they gave us an 8/10 street song titled Shempe.

13.  Fiokee ft. Flavour Very - Connected: I say this with all confidence and with no form of bias Fiokee is one of the best things that has happened to Nigeria music in the last one year. There is no song the super guitarist has featured on that isn’t pleasant to the ear and today he has decided to bless us with his own song titled Very Connected featuring Flavour and I must say it is a song that connects. The rating will be 8/10.

14.  Endia - That’s Me: Just when I was beginning to ask about his whereabouts, he makes a return to the music scene. Produced by Chopstix, Endia open his 2018 account with the decent song titled That’s Me and I have to say he still got his fire as the rating will be 8/10.
