We were unlucky - Arsene Wenger says about 3-1 Leicester defeat

Arsene Wenger has come out to say that his side were unlucky to be reduced to ten men and also questioned the penalty decision given against them but went on to praise the players' spirit after their 3-1 defeat to Leicester.

According to the departing manager, Arsenal's spirited response to going down to 10 men in their 3-1 loss at Leicester City showed the team has a bright future next season. 

The visitors fell behind to Kelechi Iheanacho's 14th-minute strike at the King Power on Wednesday night, before seeing young defender Konstantinos Mavropanos sent off just 90 seconds later. However, Arsenal briefly fought back to level matters early in the second half thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's ninth goal.

He said "I felt we played with great spirit and we were unlucky to play with 10 men and to be caught with a non-penalty overall, though, there was enough room for us to win the game, so I would like to praise the spirit of my team tonight, even if we lost the game. Even with 10 against 11 we looked like we could score at any moment and at 1-1 we had two situations with three against two, but we complicated our game a bit. We had the chances to score and win the game. The fact that we had to chase the game with 10 men made it very open. I would like to say that this team has shown tonight they have a future and hopefully they can show that next season."
