#AHAlbumReview: Top 10 music albums released by Nigerian artistes in 2017

No doubt 2017 has been another great year musically as Nigerian artistes continued to improve on their craft and making ground breaking records across the world. For a year that started on a dull note, I would say it was indeed a decent year after all considering the fact that we had over 16 artistes dropping their album which also include some debut albums too.
As the year is coming to an end our team at Absolute Hearts Album Review has decided to compile a list of the top 10 albums for the year 2017 and these are the following criteria we have decided to follow.·
Year Under Review: Every album here must be released between January to October 2017 which is the year under review·
Number of Singles Released: The higher the number of singles release from the album the less ranking the album will have·
Rating: The official rating from our Absolute Hearts Album Review
Production Input: The quality of production matters

With that being said let’s start the count down (a link to read each album's review will also be include at the end of each album);
10. Sounds From The Other Side - Wizkid: No doubt this album was the most anticipated album and according to me the most publicized album for 2017. The 12 track album features 7 foreign artistes as guest artistes and a total of 7 producers also worked on the album. The first 5 songs of this album were released as official singles off the album and the top songs from the album are Daddy Yo, Nobody, Gbese ft Trey Songz and Sexy. This album got an 8.3/10 rating from our album review. > Sound From The Other Side by Wizkid

9. The Never Say Never Guy - Skales: To be honest, when I listened to this album I was very much impressed, Skales did a brilliant work on this project especially with the production. The album houses 17 tracks with Give Me Love featuring Tekno and For You as the official singles that were released off the album. 10 producers worked on this album and Skales featured a total of 11 artistes both locally and internationally. Top songs from this album are Booty Language, Lavish ft. Rotimi, Kpete Wicked and Make Love In The Morning ft. Wande Coal as the album got an 8.2/10 rating from our album review. > Absolute Hearts Album Review | The Never Say Never Guy by @youngskales

8. Illy Bomaye - Illbliss: Oga boss released is fifth studio album titled Illy Bomaye and it got an 8.7/10 rating on our album review for the decent effort that was put in. The album contains 9 tracks with 5 producers to give us a very dope rap production. The album had 3 guest artistes which are Praiz, Cynthia Morgan, Tha Suspect. Only two songs from this album was released as singles and they are God Of Wonders featuring Praiz and Iteriba featuring Cynthia Morgan, I tip this album to be nominated for Rap Album of the year as it has an 8.7/10 rating from our album review. > Reviewing the 'Illy Bomaye' album by rapper Illbliss

7. A Trip To The South - Erigga: Erigga is one of few realest rappers we have in Nigeria, he is very deep in originality, he makes street rap easy to relate to with his story telling flows. This album is another rap album that should be nominated for Best Rap album of the year as it has some deep rap flows with songs like A Trip To The South, Loyalty, Delete and Spoil Everywhere. Production wise this album had a cool production as we have 8 producers and 4 guest artistes on the 13 track album which also got an 8.7/10 rating from our album review. > Album Review; A Trip To The South by Erigga

6. 27 - Falz: On the 27th of October 2017, Falz decided to surprise everyone with the release of his third studio album titled 27 as a birthday gift to the fans. The album which has 15 tracks officially featured 9 guest artiste and 6 producers who were responsible for the super production done on the project. For an album that didn’t get any hype or announcement before the release Falz really did surprise me with the quality of sounds on this album. This is Falz' best album yet and it got an 8.9/10 rating from our album review. Top songs from the album include Polished, Child of the World, The Lamba Song and Le Vrai Bahd Guy. La fete, Jeje and Something Light were the official singles that were released off the album. > A review of the '27' album by Falz

5. Magic - BOJ: This is one of the first debut albums we have on this list and this should say all you need to know about the amount of work that was put into this album. When this album dropped I was very skeptical listening to it but I am very glad I did, the sounds in the album are nothing but magical as it is melodious to the ears and soothes to the soul. Magic has 11 official tracks with super production coming from Magik, Studio Magic, HOD, Adey and Kush and features a total of 10 guest artistes. Top songs include Molade, Beautiful Lady, Aisha and Antidote and it had an 8.9/10 rating from our album review. > A review of the 'Magic' album by BOJ | [@BojDRB]

4. Simisola - Simi: This is another debut album that will be making the list and I have to say Simi is one of the most versatile artistes we have in Nigeria.  Her music composition and arrangement is one thing that really stood out in this album and of course the productions was also on point. The 12 track album features just Adekunle Gold with production credits going to Oscar, Vtek, Seyikeyz and Sess. Joromi and Smile For Me were the two official singles that were released off the album. Top songs include Gone For Good, Take Me Back ft. Adekunle Gold, Complete Me and O Wa N’be. I have to say this is one of the best female albums I have listened to in the last five years and it has a rating of 9/10 from our album review. > Reviewing the 'Simisola' album by Simi

3. Blessed Forever - AQ: I have to listen to this album like five times and I have to say it’s a unique and classic rap album, not the usual rap we are used to and you have to be a real fan of rap to truly understand and appreciate the sounds coming out from this album. A.Q once again has proven he is in his own sphere when it comes to rap, a good album that got a rating of 9/10 from our album review. Top songs from the 11 track album which features 9 guest artistes and productions from Beats By Jayy and Etwinz. Criminality, AS + AS (Genotype), Change One Thing Change Everything and Diezani are top songs on the album. Jazzman is the only song that was released off this album.

2. Odysseus - Jesse Jagz: Jesse Jagz' fourth studio album Odysseus took us on a powerful, deep and intelligent journey, he once again proves to us why he is the Greatest as he gives us the best of the best with sounds that will stand the test of time. The 10 tracks album was solemnly produced by Jesse himself and it features 5 guest artiste including Styl Plus and the top songs include Violation ft. Burna Boy, Gensis and Rude Boy Quarters. Best In You is the only single that was released off the album as the album got a 9.4/10 from our album review. >  Reviewing the 'Odysseus' album by Jesse Jagz

1. Palmwine Music - Show Dem Camp: After taking a long break Show Dem Camp surprised everybody with the release of this album as there was no form of hype or even singles released, we just woke up and Wawu!! SDC has an album. The 7 track album features 7 artistes and the production on this album is extremely dope, credits to Spax for that. The album got a 9.5/10 rating on our album review and I would be shocked if this album doesn’t get nominated for Album of the Year in the Headies, every song on this album is a top song. This album is full of good sweet music that will soften your heart and heal the soul; to be honest it has that palmwine feeling if you understand what I mean. Quote me anywhere this album will go down as one of the greatest album to every come out of this country. > Absolute Hearts Album Review | 'Palmwine Music' by @ShowDemCamp
