A dissident is “a
person who opposes official policy, especially that of an authoritarian state.”
So now we know the vibe Yamaha was going for when they named their new
motorcycle from the Yard Built program the XJR1300 Dissident. Created as part
of the celebration of Yamaha’s XJR series,
Portugal-based it roCKs!bikes
took control of the design and build with just one rule: no cutting or welding.
Designers Osvaldo Coutinho and Alexandre Santos used handcrafted metal airflow
pipes, four of which flow from the engine through the tail. Other highlights
include high-end YZF-R1 forks, an intricate ISR braking system with new
cylinders and 340mm dual discs, 17-inch tubeless Kineo spoked rims covered with
Pirelli Angel GT sport touring rubber, a handmade leather seat, a rich
pearl/gold paint job, and an aluminum Monza-style gas cap. For pricing details,
