Mikel To Captain Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said John Obi Mikel might be the likely replacement for John Terry as the Blues’ captain.

The Super Eagles midfielder who has spent nine years with the Blues since his controversial move from Lyn has 224 caps making him the second longest serving member of the team after current captain John Terry. As Terry’s career with the London club is winding down, the English champions will have to select a new skipper and Mourinho feels Mikel may just be accorded with the honour of wearing the skipper’s armband.

Mourinho who spoke with Dailymail.co.uk had this to say “Mikel is after John, the guy with most years of Chelsea,I think Fabregas has personality for a captain too. But let’s say John and Branislav are our captains and the others are ready to come".

Mikel who has been linked with a move away from the London club recently came out to end the speculation over his Chelsea future by insisting he is happy at Stamford Bridge.
