The English Premeir League Returns

A total of £500m have been spent by English teams in the transfer market so far with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool just but to mention a few been the highest spender and with about four weeks to the deadline you would say this record figure would only get higher as the likes of City, United, Chelsea are still hoping to add to their squad.

The most interesting and viewed league in the world, the English Premier League returns this weekend with Manchester United kicking off the season against Tottenham, Absolute Hearts would be doing a review and preview on those team that we think would make it to the top four in the Premiership. We shall be working with the following guidelines in picking our top four teams.

  • Performance in previous season
  • Business done in the transfer market
  • The coach pedigree
  • And the star player(s) they can rely on
Based on these guidelines we are also going to have one spoiler team- team that might just break into the top four at the expense of the previewed top four. With that been said let get the ball rolling.

Chelsea
They are the current Champions and with that alone they are the team to beat but hey this is football anything can happen. They started last season on a very impressive note going 23 matches unbeaten till a loss at St James Park. Chelsea first defeat of last season came from the hand of Newcastle as Super Sub Papiss Cisse who came in to score two goals. With a coach like Jose Mourinho it wasn't surprising that Chelsea bounce back strong even though they lost some couple of games but they never left the first position from the beginning of the season till the end.

Chelsea have been rather quiet in the transfer market unlike last season that saw players like Cesc Fabregas, Diego Coast, Thibaut Courtois just to mention a few joining the blues. They have only purchased Radamel Falcao who had a bad first premiership experience with Man United, Stoke City keeper Asmir Begovic who came in to replace Peter Cech who left for Arsenal. In as much as fans are still astound with the choice of Mourinho signing Falcao on load due to his very awful  performance with United as many still believe he has nothing to offer but hey if there anyone who can revive the career of any player then that man is Jose. A good example is when he signed Eto to Inter Milan who was sold from Bacra because they thought he had nothing to offer. Jose was able to revive him and also the forgotten Italian striker Diego Milito as he made them the strike force that won him the treble.

With the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Jose Mourinho as the Manager, Chelsea are definitely one of the team that would make the top four and who knows they might just retain the trophy they won last season.

Manchester United
After a very disappointing season under David Moyes which saw them finishing at 7th position, United were able to move up three steps on the table under the management of Louis Van Gaal last season as they are still trying to find their rhythm after the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex.

Spending close to 150 million pounds last season in buying players like Di Maria, Luke Shaw, Falcao just to mention a few. Fans were so excited that United were going to make a big statement and they did but not the way we all expected. After 10 matches United were only able to pick up 13points as they faced with serious injury crisis. With six defeats three wins and a draw United seasons didn't begin the way fans were expecting, they were hoping to put the awful Moyes era behind them but this was more like adding salt to the injury as they were placed 11th on the table.

United have spent a total of 80 million pounds and that can be pushed up to 120 million pounds if they succeed in their pursuit of Pedro. With the capture of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian you can say United has picked up from where they left off in the transfer market and with the whole situation with David De Gea it is safe to say that the Red Devils still have unfinished business in the market.

When he first came in as the manager LVG said it would take United three years to win a title and looking at the fact they made the champion league spot last season you can say United are getting back to their grove. LVG is a manager that is not shy of success as he has done it with the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona and after guiding Netherlands to the third place finish at the last World Cup, LVG came to United with a lot of pedigree and seen how he has been able to copy with the English league you can say he is that man to guide them back to victory.

Except from the club captain Wayne Rooney United doesn't really have a player that can pull the fire out of the chest nut but if the likes of Juan Mata can produce the same performance he did last season combined with the ability of Bastian Schweinsteiger and the pace of Memphis Depay who says United can't do better than what they did last season.

Arsenal
Winning the FA Cup and Community Shield back to back many fans would say this is Arsenal time to win the league. They had a very good campaign last season and they have the FA cup to prove that though fans believed they could have done better most especially in the champions league.

After the departure of Jens Lehmann Arsenal hasn't had that top class goal keeper but they have been able to do that in this transfer market as they signed Chelsea goal keeper Peter Cech and so far that has been their only signing. We all know that Mr. Wenger doesn't spend much in the market a trend that has changed in the last two transfer market so it is still expected that Arsenal can still sign a player as it is rumoured that the club are trying to sign Benzema for 40 million pounds.

With the likes of Ozil, Alexis Sanchez who is still on injury, Theo Walcott and the new shot stopper Cech the gunners are team to watch out for.

Manchester City
Second placed City had a not too good season last season after they dropped some vital point when they could have overtaken Chelsea as the table topper.

With the likes Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph, Patrick Robert you can say City have continued from where they stopped during the last transfer market were they able to add the likes of Wilfred Bony, Eliaquim Mangala, Fernando, Frank Lampard, Bacary Sagna just but to mention a few to the squad. Rumours also have it that City are on the verge of signing De Bruyne and if that is achieved it is believed that, that would be their last action in the market.

Although rumours has it that this would be Pellegrini last season in charge of the club as it is has been said that Pep Guadiola has agreed a deal in principle with the club. One thing that is certain is the fact that the man that would lead the Blue Boys of Manchester this season would be Pellegrini and nothing more than a top four position is expected of him. Perhaps if it is true that he would be sacked at the end of the season, and then we are guessing he would want to leave the job with his head up high maybe win the premiership and probably the champion leagues.

There is no doubt about the ability of Sergio Augerio if he his full fit and even though he is just a new signing judging by what he did when playing for Liverpool we can say Raheem sterling is that player City would be looking further to if they really want to go far this season.

 Spoiler Team

Liverpool
They had a very bad season last season compared to the 2013/2014 season where they almost won the league only to lose out to Manchester City. The 2014/2015 season was a very bad one for the team that Never Walk Alone as they ended the season 6th on the premier league table.

Just like the way they did last season buying players from all over as they were looking for who will fill the shoes that were left by Luis Suarez  Liverpool has continued in that fashion in this transfer market has they have signed a total of eight player and still counting. With the likes of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne, Danny Ings and James Milner you can say Liverpool have been the most busy team in the transfer market and it is still been reported that they aren’t done.

As at January many fans were calling for the head of their Brendan Rodgers due to the way the team were playing but the club owners stock with him and they have giving another vote of confidence to lead the team this coming season. One of the downfalls for Rodgers last season was the fact that his bank on player Daniel Strurridge was on injury and he also had a fall out with Raheem sterling who could have helped the team but still looking at what he has done with the team since he has been with them it is safe enough to say that Rodgers might just once again guide Liverpool back to the top four but that would be at the expense of the likes of City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal who have majorly occupied the top four position.

if Liverpool want to go far this season they would have to rely on the goal scoring technique of Christian Benteke and the skilfulness of  Strurridge upfront while the likes of Henderson , Coutinho and new signings Firmino and Milner all have to be at the A game in the middle of the park.

So there you have it people our review and preview about the teams we think would make the top four and the spoiler team that make just shock everyone. You are free to add your comment if you think none of this team would make the top four and if you feel some would make it and the other want, you are also feel to say your mind and you are also welcome to rep your club if you feel your club is the one.
