Januzaj's loan to Germany has been an
absolute disaster since the United forward ignored the advice of manager Louis van Gaal and opted for a switch
to the Bundesliga. The Belgian international forward has started only one
league game for his current club after coach Thomas Tuchel quickly decided that he was not mentally ready for
the demands of first-team football. Now it understood that the
20-year-old is likely to come back to Old Trafford in the next few days at the
request of Van Gaal after the club opened talks about terminating a deal that
should have lasted for the whole season. The news will delight United fans whose hopes were
raised of a return for the Belgian when he appeared in the directors' box for
the recent home game with Chelsea.
Back in November Van Gaal was asked about Januzaj and he said “At a club like Borussia Dortmund, all the players are also of a certain level. “I said in advance that is a big risk, because you have to compete with other players of a higher level and that is not so easy. It is the same as at Manchester United. He has to compete with higher-level players. I want him to play all the matches and that is why I wanted to play him in the Premier League, but he chose Borussia Dortmund. We have to wait and see [if the move works out] because now he doesn't play. I am certain he has the talent to play, but he has to learn a lot of things. Talent is important, but so is the character to develop your talent and he can learn that”.
