Disney are taking off from where they left off in 2015 as the House of Mouse
is turning the tide to focus on its marquee releases of 2016, with today’s
batch of new images focusing on Zootopia, Jon Favreau’s The Jungle
Book and fantastical prequel Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Released alongside the new still for Alice was a fresh peek at Jon Favreau’s much-anticipated The
Jungle Book. If yesterday’s triptych poster showcased one third of the
animal kingdom, this latest image reveals Neel Sethi in action as Mowgli, as he stalks Favreau’s lush
rainforest. Switching from real-life animals to anthropomorphic
animations, the studio’s final teaser placed a spotlight on Disney Animation’s Zootopia
and, specifically, the two furry critters at the heart of the tale – Judy
Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and con artist Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman).
Zootopia gets the ball rolling first on March 4, 2016, followed in
quick succession by The Jungle Book on April 15. From there, fans can
look forward to Alice Through the Looking Glass on May
27, and you can check out the latter’s official synopsis below.
Director James Bobin brings his
own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010
with “Alice in Wonderland,” in which Alice (Wasikowska) returns to the
whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.
The film, which once again features Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham
Carter and the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy
Spall, introduces several new characters as well: Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans),
the Mad Hatter’s father.
