IBF world welterweight champion Kell
Brook is determined to punish Amir
Khan for what he perceives as a lack of respect.
Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn,
warned Khan that he is pricing himself out of a domestic fight for the ages and
Brook appears to be equally frustrated by the attitude of his fellow
northerner. Brook said in a press conference at Bramall Lane that “I want a massive fight in the summer - if we
can't get that kid from Bolton, I'd fight Danny Garcia, or the winner of Keith
Thurman v Shawn Porter. He (Khan) has no respect for me he never has, and
that's why I want to punch him in the face. Everyone in the world wants to
see us two fight. It would kill him to lose to me - I'd put him on his a***. I've
been training since November - we are ahead of schedule and I can't wait to get
back in there”.
Brook's trainer, Dominic Ingle, also
had this to say “Kell has never turned
anyone down for a fight and he still gets slagged off. We can only fight who is
in front of us. Khan is pricing himself out of the fight who wants to see him
fight a guy in Garcia who has already knocked him out?”
Former world champion Khan fought just once in 2015, earning a unanimous
decision over Chris Algieri in New
York in May.
