I Need Someone To Pass The Baton To - Reminisce Speaks On Oladips' Signing

It's no more news that Edge Records CEO, Reminisce, has signed an indigenous rapper Oladips who got popular for his version of Dbanj's King Is Here contest. Reminisce reveals why Oladips was signed to the label.

'I need someone I can handover the baton to and I was like call this boy (Oladips) lets see does he have a contract with anyone, and along the line I found out he actually won Dbanj's King Is Here Competition, and I didn't know this until I was about to sign him. I also found out he actually put out 31 songs independently last year, that's a lot of hard work for someone who doesn't have a sponsor, doesn't have a label, doesn't have anything besides just going to the studio and telling people to give him beats and he would rap on them, 31 songs is not a joke and even the registered ones don't get to put out that much'. Reminisce said.

Oladips was also interviewed and he said 'his manager called me last year December,he said he wants to have a meeting with me, so I went to see them and we talked,I think they already had a plan for me before I met them because I now already have a song with Reminisce and a video so I think reminisce already had been hearing my songs before I met him so that was how it happened'.

Reminisce who had also formerly signed Sojay to Edge Records was asked if Sojay would be relegating Oladips and he said 'There is no relegating anybody, since Sojay joined last year he has put out 2 videos, he was on my album, his last video was a month ago. While Oladips signing was going on Sojay put out a video so there is no relegating anyone, they are not in the same lane, there are not on the same genre, they are two different people. What should look like a competition in the label is Oladips with me which I don't think I am. So Sojay is a special breed, his direction is different from ours and we are trying to treat it as such, he has a very sensitive and different audience and we are trying to push him in that direction so he is doing fine'
