Felix Ibru, the
first civilian governor of Delta State is dead. He died after a brief illness at the age of 80 yesterday (Saturday). He was born on December 7, 1935 into the family of Peter Ibru and Janet Ibru at Agbarha-Otor, a rural community in Ughelli North Local
Government Area of Delta state. He was one of the seven children of the famous Ibru family,
renowned for business ventures in Nigeria.
Mr. Ibru was educated at Yaba Methodist School. After his secondary school education at Igbobi College, he proceeded to the Nottingham School of Architecture in England where he qualified as an architect in 1962. He served as governor of Delta State between 1992 and 1993 and later as senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District between 2003 and 2007. He was President-General of the Urhobo Progress Union.
