Mourinho commends Anthony Joshua, the young Nigerian who won the IBF heavyweight title for Britain.

Anthony Joshua 26, stopped Charles Martin 29, in two rounds at London's O2 Arena to claim the IBF heavyweight title. Charles Martin an American and more experienced was favoured to win the bout against the younger Briton Anthony Joshua who won the super-heavyweight Olympic gold medallist of 2012 in London.
Martin, unbeaten in 24 contests, went into the ring against Joshua who only had 16 contents with all been KO. The contest only lasted four minutes and 52 seconds. The American’s could only last two rounds as his legs betrayed him when he found himself on the end of a crunching, long right, and two nuclear right hands put the bemused champion over in round two.

 The Briton floored his American opponent with a peach of a right-hand counter and after Martin was knocked down again, the referee called a halt. The 26-year-old is his country's sixth bona fide heavyweight world champion. Joshua is also just the third Briton to win a pro heavyweight world after the likes of Lenox Lewis and Tyson Fury.

He is also the first Briton to win both the super-heavyweight Olympic gold and a version of the world heavyweight title - London-born Lennox Lewis was fighting for Canada when he won the 1988 Olympic super-heavyweight title in Seoul. Champion Martin, who was making the first defence of the title he won in January, Joshua now has 16 knockouts from 16 pro fights and has only boxed 34 rounds in total. His only fight to go past three rounds was a seventh-round stoppage of Dillian Whyte last time out. The Special One Jose Mourinho was in attendance to see the Brit claim the IBF crown from his American opponent at The O2 as he jeered on from the stands, he later went into dressing room after the bout to commend the young lad. Anthony Joshua is a Nigeria with Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, but was born in Watford to a Nigerian mother and a father of Nigerian and Irish descent. Congrats to the young lad.
