Tomb Raider Reboot For Fall 2017 Release

Much like Dungeons & Dragons before it, the past few years have seen Warner Bros. struggling to make any tangible sign of progress on its long-gestating Tomb Raider reboot. True to the cliché of video game adaptations stalling in development, directors came and went before Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug was appointed at the helm. Next up for Warner involves casting its title heroine, and the fact that Daisy Ridley is reportedly circling the coveted role of Lara Croft picking up the tank top and dual pistols from Angelina Jolie indicate that the project is further along than we perhaps first realized.

Case in point: Heroic Hollywood is reporting that the studio is aligning its action-adventure tentpole for a release in late 2017 – October 6, 2017, to be exact. Details remain thin on the ground for now, but as we learned last week, Warner Bros. appears to be reining in its focus to double down on big-budget event films, and a live-action Tomb Raider reboot certainly fits the bill.

Said to be inspired by Crystal Dynamics’ rebooted video game franchise, Warner Bros. is seemingly aligning its new Tomb Raider movie for a release on October 6, 2017. Before any due date is announced, expect the studio to secure its leading lady to step into the shoes of Miss. Croft.
