Martyn Margetson Joins England Backroom Staff

Martyn Margetson has joined England manager Sam Allardyce's backroom staff after relinquishing his role as goalkeeping coach with Wales. Paul Trollope has also stepped down as coach with Chris Coleman's side in order to concentrate on his duties as Cardiff head coach.

Margetson, who has been part of Wales backroom staff for over five years, will combine his England duties alongside Trollope at Cardiff. The 44years old spent three years working with Allardyce at West Ham before leaving to join Cardiff in 2014.

Margetson said “This is a great opportunity and I am excited to be working alongside Sam again. I know what he can bring to a squad and also to the coaching staff. England have an outstanding crop of goalkeepers playing at the highest level and I am relishing the chance to work closely with them. I would also like to thank [Cardiff owner] Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Paul Trollope and Cardiff City for all of their support.”
