Super Eagles
manager Gernot Rohr has said that
all the four key players who missed the 2-1 victory in Zambia will return for
the World Cup qualifier matchday two fixture against Algeria in Uyo next month.
The German said that the trio of Leon Balogun, Victor Moses and Isaac Success who were excused from the game against Zambia because of reported injuries copped during their respective club engagements and Odion Ighalo who took permission to bury his late father will definitely be back for the Algeria game on 12 November.
Chelsea's Moses and Watford's Success had reportedly been the subjects of a permanent
Nigeria Football Federation ban because there were doubts about the
authenticity of their injuries.
Rohr insists
they remain in his plans, he said “Yes,
we should expect to see some new players join us for the game against Algeria. The
three injured players (Balogun, Moses, Success) and the one that had a family
issue and had to be excused will all be back. We shall also look at other
players who play regularly in their clubs who may join the team. But for the
local players who are on break, I'll be handicapped, because the league will be
on break and it will be difficult for them because they would have lost their
rhythm and they do not play and don't train, so it will be hard for them to
make the team. But we shall look at the possibility to make out something for
them. I will only invite players who are fit and play regularly for their
clubs, that was one of the reasons I did not play Mohammed Musa at all because
he had not played any game since after the match against Tanzania and Ahmed
Musa had to wait till later in the game against Zambia to come and he did well.”
