The Nigeria
Football Federation have said that the Super Eagles will play at least four
quality friendly matches next year before the World Cup qualifiers resume in
August.
Tunde Adelakun, Consultant to the NFF, who disclosed
this in a chat said that he has contacted some countries to agree for friendly
international matches that will keep the Super Eagles in shape for the World
Cup clash against Cameroon in August next year.
He said “It is painful that the Super Eagles will not
be featuring at the Africa Cup of Nations but that does not mean that they will
be idle during the period of AFCON in January/February 2017. The Eagles will be
busy before our next World Cup game in August because we shall exploit the IFA windows
in March and June. We are talking to
some European and African countries to give us friendly games in March and June
and I can assure you that we shall organize some top quality friendly matches
for Super Eagles. The idea is to play about four friendly matches during the
two FIFA windows before the clash with Cameroon in August.”
