World Cup Qualifier: Ireland To Play In Friendly

Ireland will play a friendly match against Mexico in June, in preparation for their World Cup qualifier against Austria later in the month. Martin O'Neill's squad will play Mexico at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on Thursday, June 1.

Manager O'Neill said “This is brilliant for us in our preparation for our qualifier against Austria. Mexico in the United States couldn't be much tougher but it's exactly what we want. We have another game against Uruguay a few days later. The players who may not have played for a while, after their club season has ended will, I'm sure, relish the opportunity to play against such quality opposition.”

The match against Mexico will kick off at 8pm local time.
