Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers have said that winning
the treble with Celtic is an incredible feeling after they beat Aberdeen 2-1 in
the Scottish Cup final.
The Hoops had already picked up the Scottish
Premiership and Scottish League Cup trophies ahead of the Hampden Park clash,
with a late strike from Tom Rogic
sealing the third title of an unbeaten domestic campaign.
It was the fourth time Celtic have won three
trophies in a season during the clubs history and the first under Rodgers, who
says his side's quality showed through on an remarkable day.
He said “It's an
incredible feeling and an incredible end to the game, it was a very tough game.
We said to the players beforehand that if you want to make history, it is never
easy. You have to work for it. Give credit to my players and the Aberdeen
players because they worked tirelessly throughout the game but as it wore on,
our quality and movement started to pay dividends. The football in the first
half wasn't so good. Obviously Aberdeen were trying to break the game up and we
weren't as fluent. Some of our football was a bit nervous but at half-time we
told the players to stay calm. That's how we've won games this season, by
playing our football and they were playing a man-marking game. Then hopefully
over time, they start to tire and the space opens up and that's what started to
happen, especially in the last half an hour. We started to create chances and
our quality came through. It is an incredible feeling for the football club and
the players in particular because they've been incredible.”
