Champions League Update: Ronaldo Breaks Record, City Top, United Relegated

For all of a minute, the Champions League knockout stage seemed all secured for United as Marouane Fellaini buried his header in the turf, the ball bounced up and Wolfsburg midfielder Josuha Guilavogui somehow diverted it over his own goalkeeper putting United on level terms and in Eindhoven, PSV and CSKA Moscow were also leveled, the numbers were adding up and somehow it looked like United were going through.

Things came crumbling down for United as for the second time that night, United were unable to retain a lead when Wolfsburg got their third goal, then also came the news flash that PSV were ahead in Eindhoven and United were done. Now United would have to wait for the UEFA Europa League draw later this month as the game ended 3-2. Meanwhile United Niegbours Manchester City had five remarkable moments that changed everything at the Eithad Stadium. A goal from Raheem Sterling drew City level in the 79th minute after trailing 2-1 from the first half and then, two minutes later, he scored again putting City ahead again before Wilfred Bony sealed the victory with the fourth goal. This win means City top Group D as Juventus Lost 0-1 to Sevilla in Spain.

The man of the night is definitely Cristiano Ronaldo as Portuguese striker scored four in the team’s 8-0 win over Swedes team Malmo FC. Ronaldo became the first player to score 11 goals in the group stage of the Champions League with an 11-minute second half hat-trick and then became only the fourth player in the club’s history to score four in a European match, only Ferenc Puskas, Alfredo Di Stefano and Hugo Sanchez had managed it before.
