Arsenal once
again are topping the Premier League
after another comprehensive away performance that also left Aston Villa continuing to stare into
the abyss.
Olivier Giroud found the net again following his
feats of Athens, as Aaron Ramsey scored the second,
becoming the latest recipient of Mesut
Ozil’s ability to provide. Ozil now has 13 Premier League assists and is
well within range of Thierry Henry’s record of 20 set in 2004-05. This result
puts Arsene Wenger’s side above Leicester and Manchester City to the summit of this perplexing Premier League.
Arsenal came into the game in a buoyant mood following their remarkable victory
at Olympiacos but it was Villa began
brightly with Scott Sinclair firing
a shot at Petr Cech on six minutes
but still fell behind early. Arsenal got a penalty which Giroud converted for
the first goal before Ramsey sealed the victory for the Gunners.
Manchester United poor form continues as they lost against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday. United
went into this game with the hopes of getting the pain of losing out of the Champions League out of their system
but once again LVG and his boys were
not impressive as the match ended 2-1. Manchester City also got a scare when Swansea equalizer but a Yaya Toure shot which came off Nigeria Kelechi Iheanacho made sure the Citizens were the victor. Newcastle
came from behind to defeat Tottenham
as Odion Ighalo was Watford hero against Sunderland.
