Messi beats Ronaldo once again in an Award Ceremony held last night

Messi beats Ronaldo in the Spanish La Liga Award Ceremony held last night to celebrate last season's achievements in the Spanish top flight.
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has been named La Liga's best player of 2014-15 at the annual award ceremony on Monday.

Messi, who was recently named Goal 50 winner last week, also won the best overall player in addition beating Ronaldo to that also. While receiving the award, he said:  'I dedicate this award to my son Thiago, when I leave home, he always gets mad and says, 'You're again going to the goal’.

James Rodriguez won the best Midfielder of the 2014/2015 season beating off competition from Atletico Madrid's star player Antoine Griezmann and Barcelona's Andres Iniesta.

The Colombian's Santiago Bernabeu team-mate, Sergio Ramos also beat another Barcelona player Gerard Pique and Nicolas Otamendi to the award of the Spanish top flight's best defender last season.

Luis Enrique's achievements in guiding Barca to Liga success in his debut season earned him the accolade of best coach while his No.1 in La Liga, Claudio Bravo, was named best goalkeeper of 2014-15.

Neymar was crowned the best South American player in La Liga last season ahead of Luis Suarez and James Rodriguez.

Valencia midfielder Sofiane Feghouli was crowned the best African player in the division.
Despite being overlooked as best player and best forward, Ronaldo won the fans' player of the year award which was voted for on social media prior to the ceremony, he was absent though.
It was the sixth time in the awards' seven-year history that Messi has claimed the top prize, with last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo the only other recipient last year.

Fans' Player: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Best Player: Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos won best defender for third year in a row and he helped Ronaldo accept the award.
