PFA Team Of Year: Mesut Ozil Misses Out

Leicester City and Tottenham account for eight players in the Professional Footballers' Association's team of the season, but there is no room for Arsenal's Mesut Ozil. Ozil is among six nominees to win the individual award on Sunday evening, but Hector Bellerin is the only Arsenal player to make a line-up decided by the votes of Premier League players.

Manchester United's David de Gea is named in goal while Dimitri Payet is also included,. Leicester are represented by captain Wes Morgan and their three individual nominees - Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante, while Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld are Spurs' four inclusions.

The PFA, which had planned to reveal the Teams of the Year on Sunday at its awards dinner, was forced to release the information on Thursday afternoon after the Premier League team was leaked in a photograph on social media.

A statement on the organisation's website read: “The PFA is disappointed that a member of the public has chosen to deliberately leak our representative teams from the official brochure of the Awards Evening. As a matter of urgency, we are seeking a detailed explanation from the brochure printers as to how they were able to secure a copy of the publication. The unveiling of  the PFA representative teams is eagerly awaited by our members and football fans throughout the country and we hope that the unfortunate leak does not affect the wide-ranging debate and discussion which accompanies their normal release on the day of the event

The individual player awards will be revealed on Sunday evening.
