Photos from late former presidential aspirant, Umaru Shinkafi's burial
The former presidential aspirant who died in a UK hospital on Wednesday, was laid to rest in Sokoto state today July 8th. In attendance at his funeral were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, Emirs of Gwandu, Alh Muhammad Ilyasu Bashar and that of Argungu, Alh. Sama'ila Mera. Governors of Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, Ministers of Justice, Abubakar Chika Malami, Aviation, Hadi Sirika, and that of Interior, General Abdulrahman Dambazau were also in attendance. The Prestigious Nigerian Writers Awards (NWA) 2017 nomination is
on. NWA is a platform organized to reward excellence, celebrate Nigerian
Writers of different genres, encourage and create a synergy between budding and
established writers in Nigeria. It is the first of its kind awards
to reward writers of different genres and writers’ supportive brands.
Court affirms the election of Okezie Ikpeazu as Abia State governor
Justice A.I Allagoa of the Federal High Court in Owerri, has affirmed the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State. Former governorship aspirant, Barr. Friday Nwosu also dragged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to court over alleged forged tax certificates. However, the court ruled today that the plaintiff, (Nwosu) was unable to prove that the tax documents where forged and dismissed the matter.

The behind-the-scenes snap sees the actor fully suited-up as the webhead, seemingly in the process of performing a rather risky looking stunt, with several crew members and some crash mats visible below. The picture also gives us a good look at Parker’s webshooters, which seem to have been revamped slightly since Tony Stark provided him with some much-needed upgrades in Civil War.

Justin Timberlake to join new movie by Woody Allen
Woody Allen officially revealed the cast of his
new untitled feature film today. The cast will include James Belushi (“The
Whole Truth,” “Twin Peaks”), Juno Temple (Black Mass, “Vinyl”), Justin
Timberlake (The Social Network, Inside Llewyn Davis), and Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs, The Reader). The new film is produced by Allen’s long-time
collaborator Letty Aronson, Erika Aronson, and Edward Walson. It begins
shooting this fall in New York.

PENGASSAN calls off strike action
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, have suspended their planned strike action which was meant to kick off today July 7th. The union say they suspended the strike in order to attend a meeting with the Federal government on Monday July 11th. Outcome of the meeting will determine whether they will still proceed with the strike action or not.
