Strangest Church Names

I was actually walking on street of recent and something captured my eyes, it was a sign board belonging to a church. What actually caught my attention on the sign board was the name of the church; it says “Earn Commission For Jesus”. With these I began to ask myself why do we find churches give them self strange and funny name such as  Laboratory Church Of God, Best Spot In The Land Of God, Holy Ghost On Fire Ministry just but to mention a few.
 So this was what I did, I decided to do a research as usual to see if it is only in Nigeria that churches has such strange and funny names and here are some other strange names I came across;

1.      Half Way Baptist Church

Located at Halfway, Polk County, Missouri USA, probably that was why they decided to give the church that name or whether it is because when you are debating something you aren’t sure about, it is always best to negotiate by meeting the other party half way.

2.      Exciting Singing Hills

Most churches are afraid that you might miss the general vibe in the church without attending the sermons, so this one decided to make sure you knew exactly how exciting this church really is. Just in case you want to visit the church is located at 6550 Houston School Rd, Dallas, TX 75241, United States

3.      I Am That I Am

Most institutes are afraid of maintaining a pleasing identity for the public. This one knows exactly what it is all about, and it has embraced it. The location is 911 S Magnolia St Laurel, Mississippi

4.      House Of God Inc

Located at 866 Georgetown Street Lexington, the name sounds less like the name of a church and more like the name of a jazz and blues club.

5.      Boring United Methodist Church

I am guessing they won’t have many members. This boring church is located at Upperco, MD 21155, United States. 

6.      Beaver Lick

The person responsible for naming this church clearly hadn’t heard of the slang meaning of the word beaver. Adding the word lick after beaver just makes it even more sexual. It location is 11460 US-42, Union, KY 41091, United States

7.      Cowboy Church

As a cowboy after a long day of saddling horses and typing up cattle and you still need to give thanks to the lord visit 2374 U.S. 287 Access Rd, Waxahachie, TX 75167, United States, that is where you would find a church meant for your kind alone.

8.      Undenominational Church

Sure you say you are undenominational now, but wait till the economy starts to tank again.

9.      Flippin Church Of God

For all those people who don’t believe in god and the church, this one has a flip for you. Location is at Flippin, Arkansas 72634.

10.  Original Church Of God

It is only fitting that a church called the ‘Original church of god’ has its picture taken in black and white and it is located at 1803 County Hospital Rd, Nashville
