Another Nigerian Player Slumps And Dies during Match

Tragedy struck in Kano two day ago as former Heartland and Kano Pillars forward Abdul Haruna slumped and died on the pitch during a football match.

This ugly incident occurred when the 27years old forward was playing for Kano Professionals against a selected amateur team in Kano in a friendly game. He had a stint with a club in Vietnam, Song Lam Nghe, and had come back to Kano to enjoy Christmas with his friends and family members before the unfortunate incident.

Reacting after the incident, Kano Pillars media manager Idris Malikwa announced that the entire football communities in Kano are in shock over his demise. Malikawa said “Abdul Haruna died Sunday while playing in a friendly match between Kano Professionals and a selected amateur side. He fell down unchallenged and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital before he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty”.

Bobsam Elejiko, Amir Angwe, Endurance Idahor, Samuel Okwaraji and Emmanuel Ogoli are some Nigerian players who have collapsed, unchallenged and died during football matches in the past. Haruna was buried on Monday according to Islamic rites in Kano, he was survived by Surayya, his wife whom he married in 2012. The union is blessed with a baby boy.
