The son of the mayor of Hot Springs who
also happens to be a former MTV
reality star and the husband of Disney actress Tiffany Thornton, Chris
Carney is dead.
Chris who was 35 was involved in a car crash on Friday morning in Arkansas, the single-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 70 just before 2 a.m according to local news station KTHV reports. Both Carney and the 37 years old driver Ezekiel Blanton, were pronounced dead at the scene as the vehicle slammed into a tree after failing to navigate a curve.
Carney, the former lead singer of the band The Prom Kings, was featured in the 2006 MTV reality show “twentyfourseven” alongside his younger brother when they moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment.
His wife Thornton is currently a radio personality on Hot Springs’ KLAZ 105.9 and the station released a statement on Facebook saying“Our hearts are breaking at KLAZ and Noalmark Broadcasting. Our Tiffany Thornton’s husband died in an auto crash last night. Please send up your prayers for Tiffany and her family. She is loved by us and our many” listeners
Disney Channel also made a statement through their spokesperson “Tiffany will always be a member of the Disney family and our thoughts and prayers are with her and her children at this difficult time”.
The Hot Springs city board also released a statement which says “The City of Hot Springs Board of Directors, staff and employees extend their heartfelt sympathy to Mayor Ruth Carney, Rev. Ken Carney, Tiffany Thornton Carney and the entire family upon the death of Chris Carney in a car accident which occurred early this morning. Please keep the Carney family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.”
