Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Third Highest Goalscorer In La Liga

Cristiano Ronaldo has clinched his place among the three all-time top scorers in the Spanish La Liga after netting against Eibar for Real Madrid on Sunday.

Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot after Lucas Vasquez was brought down in the penalty box, the strike took him onto 234 goals in the nation's top-flight, drawing level with former Madrid favourite Hugo Sanchez in the rankings and also ended 5hours of no goals in the La Liga.  Ronaldo, however, reached the mark in 134 fewer games than the legendary Mexican forward. His penalty, moreover, took him to 48 successful Liga spot-kicks, 11 more than anyone else in the top five European leagues since 2009/10.

Zarra, with 251 goals, is the next target for Cristiano, while Lionel Messi leads the standings with 290 goals.
